The Issues Solving Track is a structured process used to identify, discuss, and solve issues effectively. It’s a core part of the framework designed to help leadership teams address challenges that could hinder their progress and prevent them from achieving their goals. The process is commonly referred to as IDS®, which stands for:

  1. Identify: The first step is to pinpoint the real issue. Often, teams discuss the symptoms of a problem without digging deeper into the root cause. In this step, the focus is on getting everyone to agree on the actual issue that needs solving.
  2. Discuss: Once the issue is clearly identified, the team engages in a productive discussion. The purpose of this step is to gather different perspectives and ideas, ensuring all relevant information is on the table. However, it’s important that the discussion is concise and solution-oriented, avoiding repetition or irrelevant details.
  3. Solve: After a focused discussion, the team moves to the solution stage. This involves coming to a consensus on actionable steps to resolve the issue. A solution should be clear and practical, often resulting in specific To-Dos or action items that are assigned to individuals for follow-through.

The Issues Solving Track is most often used in Level 10 Meetings, but it can be applied in any situation where a team needs to solve problems. By using IDS, teams can keep their focus on what matters most and remove obstacles that stand in the way of achieving their vision.
