Formula Builder<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Formula Objectives calculate their values using other Objectives and mathematical operators. Instead of entering a value manually, the Objective result is generated from the formula you create.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creating a Formula<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To create a formula Objective:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Select Enable Formula Builder at the bottom of the Objective creation screen\/modal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Build your formula using Objectives, numbers, and operators.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Validate the formula.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Save the Objective.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The calculated result will update based on the values used in the formula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Adding Objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Objectives can be inserted directly into the formula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To add an Objective:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. Place your cursor where the Objective should appear.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Select the Objective from the available Objective list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Select Insert, and the Objective will be inserted into the formula.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      When the formula runs, the current value of the selected Objective is used in the calculation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Using Operators<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      The Formula Builder supports standard mathematical operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Common operators include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Addition (+)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Subtraction (-)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Multiplication (*)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Division (\/)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Parentheses ( )<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • Revenue – Expenses<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Sales \/ Opportunities<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • (Revenue – Expenses) \/ Revenue<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          Using parentheses can help control the order in which calculations are performed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Adding Numbers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          Static numbers can be included in formulas alongside Objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          • Revenue * 0.10<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Sales + 100<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • (Production Hours \/ 40) * 100<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            Numbers entered into the formula remain fixed unless manually changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Formula Validation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            Formulas must pass validation before they can be saved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Validation checks for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            • Missing operators<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Missing Objectives<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Incomplete expressions<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Invalid characters<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Unmatched parentheses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

              If validation fails, review the formula and correct any errors before saving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Formula Results<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

              Formula Objectives automatically recalculate based on the values of the Objectives included in the formula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              If an Objective used within the formula changes, the formula result will update accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
