To create a Rock, use the nav panel, select Rocks >> Rocks List. Once on the main Rocks page, click the + New Rock button at the top. That will open the “New Rock” modal window for you to enter some basic information about this new Rock.

Alternatively, Rocks can be created from within Meetings from the Rocks section of the meeting agenda by clicking New Rock. Both methods will produce the Rock creation modal. 

 

Fields and Their Meaning 

  • Rock Template: If your organization has created Rock Templates, (update that page) you can select one here, and most of the following fields will be auto populated. Rock due date and any To-Do deadline dates from the template will automatically adjust to the start date chosen.
  • Start Date: The date your Rock will begin. 
  • Due Date: The date your Rock is expected to be completed. 
  • Rock Name: The title of your Rock. 
  • Subtitle: Short clarification of the Rock name. 
  • Description: A broad overview of the Rock’s purpose and goals. 
  • Owner: User with the rights to make major updates to the Rock, such as changing its start and end dates, changing viewers or members, and marking the Rock complete. 
  • Team Members: Users working on this Rock. They can create/edit To-Dos associated with it (if they have that permission in their user Seat) and reassign those To-Dos to other team members. 
  • Select Existing Team: If your organization has Teams set up, they can be added as a whole unit to a Rock. 
  • Meetings: Add the Rock to existing meetings. 
  • 1 and 3 Year Goal: If the Rock is part of a larger long-term 1 and 3 Year Goal for the company, add it here. 1 and 3 Year Goals are managed separately in Rock Settings
  • Viewers: Interested parties who can see the Rock and its status, but they are not actively working on it. 
  • New To-Do Button: Break the Rock up into smaller, manageable pieces here. Add as many as you want. For a detailed look at To-Do creation, click here

Once you’ve got all that done, click the red Create New Rock button. 

After your Rock has been created, you can access it from the main Rocks screen by clicking the title or the View button. From within a meeting, you can open a Rock by selecting its name in the Rock pane, then selecting View Details.
